My journey with glass began 20 years ago when I attended a workshop on glass and mixed media collage. No heat involved—just printed images, clear glue, acrylic paint and bronze powders. I wanted interesting decorative pieces to adorn my own home, not just the usual mass-produced prints and reproductions. I used classic imagery, sometimes isolated from its original context. The results were vases with Japanese fabric designs, lamp bases with Etruscan figures, plates with Persian images, etc.
I am fascinated by the properties of fused or kiln-formed glass.
Like alchemy, kiln-formed glass transforms itself into unexpected and delightful results. Whether making jewelry pendants, bowls, plates or wall hangings, I let the shape and size of the piece help determine the color and patterns of the glass that I use. Sometimes, I just let the glass do the work—let the colors and patterns and hues in the glass guide me.
For my necklace pendants, I enjoy simple geometric shapes, often tack-fused. Also, bursts of dichroic glass full-fused with translucent or opaque glass to make a unique “gem” to hang around your neck.
My bowls, plates, platters, and wall hangings reflect my belief in less is more. I aim for light, airy, reflective and minimalist color and design. I especially like working with iridescent glass.
I am happy to share my work and passion with you!
